This is Compassion Machine, a spinoff from Anneda with a punch to knock the veneers off of modern rock. Lucas McKinnon and I have been working hard at writing while on tour and have come up with some great new tunes. We're releasing 3 new songs + a bonus track tomorrow, June 1st 2017 via Bandcamp FOR FREE/PAY WHAT YOU WANT. Invite others, share the music if you like. We're on our way to Toronto to put a band together and record the next album!
ROCK DUO ANNOUCES COAST TO COAST CANADIAN TOUR
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 4/13/17
Compassion Machine follows up their 2016 Summer tour supporting full-length album
Victoria, BC: Celestial, psychadelic, and super-charged rock and roll duo Compassion Machine are ready for the road again. After a successful series of shows last August that took them from Vancouver Island to Saskatchewan, this Summer 2017 the band is adding Eastern Canada to the circuit including gigs in Ontario, Quebec, and the Maritime Provinces. The tour begins in May through to the end of June with dates being added daily.
Compassion Machine is the new name of a quickly evolving project consisting of lead vocalist/guitarist Charlene Birkbeck and drummer Lucas McKinnon. Previously known as Anneda, this group has returned from a season in Australia writing and performing new material that is surging with contagious energy and exuberance. Having released their first full-length album, Depths Unknown, last summer, they are already set to record their next release this upcoming fall.
For tour dates, visit our website www.annedamusic.com, Facebook page, Instagram, or email us at annedamusic@gmail.com.
Anneda is fronted by Charlene Birkbeck on guitar, lead vocals and piano, with Lucas McKinnon on drums/percussion, vocals and occasionally guitar.
A celestial duo from Victoria, B.C. whose musical milleu spans the early sounds of folk, jazz, and blues, all the way out to intergalactic atmospheres and supernova rock and roll. We perform both covers and originals and pride ourselves on being able to swoon both the smallest rooms and the rowdiest crowds.
2016 was a great year: a showcase at Canadian Music Week in Toronto, recording and releasing a new full-length album, and a month long tour across Western Canada.
Currently writing and performing new material in Australia, we are now booking through May-June for a 2017 Canada wide tour.
and what’s even more amazing is it’s already March 2016! Holy! Despite the crazy business and hectic life I may lead, it’s one I’m so happy living and I feel that’s what matters most. :)
I’m not going to touch base on ALL of the things that I have been up to because I’d probably lose your attention and I’d be writing into the night! haha
One of the projects I’ve been focusing on as of late has been my 'from the heart and soul' music Anneda, here is the new website. I’m happy to announce that I have some solid band mates to back me up for the next show (which is tomorrow!) and it couldn’t be going any smoother. We’ve got Motown Mike(from the Jesse Roper band) on blues harmonica, drummer extraordinaire Lucas McKinnon(who has a lot of hidden talents yet to surface), Kyle Lowther(from Monster Love) laying the bass beats, and Nick Wood(from 9 Volt Whiskey) rocking 2nd guitar. We’re also lucky to have Emcee Shift(Sean Behnsen) bringing some rad energy to the stage for this show.
We’re playing at Felicita’s Pub March 2nd at 8pm supporting Isobel Trigger and Sister Says for and early show.
Catch us tonight on CFUV!
Promoting the show tomorrow, we are being interviewed on CFUV 101.9FM at 10:30pm for the show ‘Road Trip’. We’ll be talking about and sharing our most influential songs and artists who have made an impact in our lives.
In the studio!
We’ve been working hard at Blastoff Studios to get these well flushed out songs on record and into your hands…
It’s been a wonderful process so far and there is still a lot of work to do! If you would like a preview of the songs, just come out to our show tomorrow eve! If you can’t make that one we will be playing Saturday April 30th at the Copper Owl with Coastline Pilot.
In other news…
I have another project I’ve been focusing on lately and that’s Beauty and the Beast. The name is just how it sounds; we’re a two piece band with just vocals, guitar and drums playing loud heavy rock mixed with light nuances of dreamlike notes floating over top. We are excited to having our debut performance at Lucky Bar on Wednesday March 30th! We’ll be going into the studio shortly so you can have that music too!
The last but not least project I’d like to touch on is Music Unites The World. I will be performing solo at Creatively United for the Planet on April 17th and 23rd and talking about the organization and what it means. The big Music Unites the World day is Earth Day, April 22nd. All we ask is for you to tune in at 1pm Pacific time on the site or sign up at http://musicunitestheworld.com and sing the same song at the same time with us and hold the same intention of a positive vibration towards the planet and everything on/within it. This has been a dream of mine since I was young, and I ask you to share that dream with me. Last year we were successful with many people around the globe tuning in and I know this year will be even better!
So much LOVE and Light!
